Best Age To Begin Orthodontic Treatment

Everyone want their child to have a beautiful smile and this is the question that arises in all the parent’s mind that what is the ideal age to begin orthodontic treatment? Well, there is no such age and it completely depends on the issue that’s being treated. Although it is a good idea to go for an orthodontic evaluation as it will allow the orthodontist to check if there is any problem. Orthodontics in Huntington Beach recommends the age between 8 to 10 years as children of this age generally have a mix of both baby and adult teeth.

Every child should go for an early orthodontic evaluation as it would be beneficial to keep a check on any orthodontic issue. Although there are certain symptoms or signs which clearly indicates that the child should go for an early evaluation. We have mentioned some of them for your consideration-

  • If your child has lost his baby teeth before the age of five.
  • When the teeth of your child do not meet properly while he/she bites. If your child snores or breathes through mouth.
  • In case of protruding and overcrowded teeth.
  • If your child have an issue of thumb sucking even after the age of three.

These are some of the signs for early evaluation but for the orthodontic treatment only an orthodontist can suggest as they have the specialist training to understand the requirement whether a treatment should or should not be required. So, overall there is no age defined to go for an orthodontic treatment although an early inspection will reveal most of the things.
